106K miles, IDK what happened. getting a clattering noise on cold start up. First thought was lifters, but it's coming from bottom. Mechanic says bearings. :(
And tranny is starting to slip too (unrelated). Starting to think about getting out from under it. It was well-maintained, just started...
It seems my bearings are bad on the Northstar (2005) Dealer and indy mechanics both reco replacing the engine. Any thoughts or advice on having the engine replaced? Dealer wants 12K, indy will do for 9.8 with a GM crate.
Anyone have experience with this or know of someone reputable and less...
Hello. Hoping to get some insight on this issue before having to go to the dealer.
2005 XLR, appx 105K mi.
Upon starting, I get a sound akin to valve clattering. Worse after sitting overnight, makes me think oil. But oil level is fine, oil pressure looks good when running. Any thoughts...
Thanks for the fast reply and link. I looked here and a few other places, seems after the shipping costs, I am within $5 of the dealer cost ($60) and can return easier if there is a problem.
Appreciate your follow up.
Yes, they tested them (Parkway Cadillac). They said one was not working at all and the other was very weak, only transmitting at 5 feet or less.
I am supposed to get them on Monday.
Hopefully this will resolve the issue.
BTW, I am located in the Valencia area.
thanks
thanks for the suggestion, but after trying everything, I took it to the dealer, they seem to think both fobs are bad (one marginal). Having them replaced and keeping my fingers crossed. Battery and charging system is all good.
search does not seem to be working so...
my 2005 XLR has been working fine, fob needs an occasional battery, but today the fobs stopped working. Could not enter the vehicle. Finally got in via the manual method and the car won't start with either fob as normal. (yes I changed both batteries)...
I might just offer an independent review site showing the value proposition which put me over the edge to select Windblox:

and windblox website:

I just had to share that I had an exceptional experience with the folks at Windblox. Not only was their windblocker one of the lowest priced on the market and highly rated, they have great customer service.
For $100 it is the best value on the market. They shipped the unit in excellent...
The owners manual basically indicates service at 50K and 100K. I got a note from the dealer stating I was due for 40K service. What does that entail and do you do it? I figured I was good with just oil changes and air filters.
Anyone take their XLR in more frequently for service? I only drive...
What is the wire you have to cut? The M2W instructions didn't indicate cutting anything for the vette. Also what is the website for the price you obtained (nakiparts seems to charge $99)
I'm interested. Thanks
