Engine bearing problem, engine replacement thoughts?

As to the used, ebay engines... Labor to install is still another $2500-$3K. And I'd prefer something reputable and maybe some warranty

Engine bearing problem, engine replacement thoughts?

106K miles, IDK what happened. getting a clattering noise on cold start up. First thought was lifters, but it's coming from bottom. Mechanic says bearings. :( And tranny is starting to slip too (unrelated). Starting to think about getting out from under it. It was well-maintained, just started...

    Help! Valve Clatter issue?

Hello. Hoping to get some insight on this issue before having to go to the dealer. 2005 XLR, appx 105K mi. Upon starting, I get a sound akin to valve clattering. Worse after sitting overnight, makes me think oil. But oil level is fine, oil pressure looks good when running. Any thoughts...

    lower smoked plastic grill

Thanks for the fast reply and link. I looked here and a few other places, seems after the shipping costs, I am within $5 of the dealer cost ($60) and can return easier if there is a problem. Appreciate your follow up.

    help, keyfob not working

Yes, they tested them (Parkway Cadillac). They said one was not working at all and the other was very weak, only transmitting at 5 feet or less. I am supposed to get them on Monday. Hopefully this will resolve the issue. BTW, I am located in the Valencia area.

    help, keyfob not working

thanks thanks for the suggestion, but after trying everything, I took it to the dealer, they seem to think both fobs are bad (one marginal). Having them replaced and keeping my fingers crossed. Battery and charging system is all good.

    help, keyfob not working

search does not seem to be working so... my 2005 XLR has been working fine, fob needs an occasional battery, but today the fobs stopped working. Could not enter the vehicle. Finally got in via the manual method and the car won't start with either fob as normal. (yes I changed both batteries)...

    Endorsement for Windblox screen

I might just offer an independent review site showing the value proposition which put me over the edge to select Windblox: http://www.windscreenreview.net/windscreen_reviews/review_xlr.html and windblox website: http://www.windblox.net/default.asp

    Endorsement for Windblox screen

I just had to share that I had an exceptional experience with the folks at Windblox. Not only was their windblocker one of the lowest priced on the market and highly rated, they have great customer service. For $100 it is the best value on the market. They shipped the unit in excellent...

Yes, that's on my wishlist, but in this economy, the $65 interim solution sounded good :-)

What are the key service intervals?

The owners manual basically indicates service at 50K and 100K. I got a note from the dealer stating I was due for 40K service. What does that entail and do you do it? I figured I was good with just oil changes and air filters. Anyone take their XLR in more frequently for service? I only drive...

    Wireless XLR Exhaust controller

What is the wire you have to cut? The M2W instructions didn't indicate cutting anything for the vette. Also what is the website for the price you obtained (nakiparts seems to charge $99) I'm interested. Thanks
