Was the XLR supposed to be released in the 2003 model year? I found this item on eBay and wondered what was up?

The XLR started production in 2003 as a 2004 model year vehicle. I know the first one with VIN ending in 0001 was a Black Raven. I assume the next were the limited edition Nieman Marcus. I would guess the brochure they are selling either states the XLR as a 2004 model or it was an error by Cadillac producing the brochure.

Was the XLR supposed to be released in the 2003 model year? I found this item on eBay and wondered what was up?

According to my research my 2004 XLR assembly was completed in late November 2003, sold the first week in January 2004. Vin number in the 1600's. JIM

This person has no way to be contacted to ask questions. I'm curious how he has a 2003 model year brochure with an XLR in it.

It is my understanding that the first one (a 2004 model) rolled off the line in early September. The registry shows one with a build date in August.

Maybe they appeared in the 2003 catalog without being available.
