CD player/changer not operating

The CD player/changer in my 2006 XLR-V does not operate. The message “error” is displayed on the head unit. I have tried several CD player/ changer’s advertised as “tested, operational, etc.” and one advertised as “new”. None operated and all displayed “error” on the head unit. Is it possible that the head unit is defective and causing the operational issue with the CD player/changer?

The short answer is yes it's possible. If I understand you correctly you have installed at least 3 different changers that are said to be in good working order and they all have the same result. That does point to the head unit, if you are sure all the connections are the same and installed properly and grounded properly. I replaced my changer with a brand new one that was made for a 2006 Cadillac SRX and it works great, I did have to switch the mother boards in the changers to get the steering wheel controls to work correctly.
