When I turn on my cruise control on my 2005 XLR with 26,700 miles it will not engage and a message
comes up the radar system needs to be serviced. Sometimes I can stop and turn car off and then it
must reset and it works Ok. This happens intermittently. Any suggestions?? Do I need to take it to a
Cadillac dealer shop?? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Most of the time if it works off and on it will be the plastic cover over the unit is dirty or scratched bad. Its in the left lower front bumper and it snaps off. Remove it and see if that works. Cleaning it msy help but some are getting age to them.

Mickeytee, you saved me a trip to the repair facility! I got the "radar system needs to be serviced" message and after cleaning the inside of the cover per your suggestion, my problem was solved. Thanks again.
