Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and am looking to pick up an XLR pretty soon. I've rebuilt cars in the past, Mercedes, Viper, etc and will probably buy a project car since it is somewhat of a hobby. I do mechanical as well as body work.

There seems to be very little if no info on taking the motor out on the web. The only thing I have come across is removal of the entire drivetrain from the bottom. Once the radiator and associated parts at the front of the motor are removed, there seems to be a LOT of room to work with so I am wondering if anyone has ever removed it from the top. I have a lift in my garage but would rather not remove everything if I don't need to. I don't have a service manual yet so there's that.

If I take on the car, I will post a DIY or at least my experience with the project. I did a DIY on how to remove and replace an AC compressor on a 2009 Jaguar XK a few months back and was the first to put it on the web. Not fun job but had to wing it with no outside assistance.

Looking forward to joining the club,

Ron
