Gumball 3000 Rally

Whoo-hoo!

What a ride!!!! :rocker::rocker:

Being wifey to a a guy who has had a life-long career in law enforcement, this article tugs at me both ways! Can't blame the guys for doing their jobs and can't blame the guys for wanting to drive the hell out of their cars! It's too bad that had to be an issue.

Did you have so much fun that you would want to do it again next year???

The XLR really holds it own in the pictures!

What an experience that must have been. I want to see all the pictures and hear all the stories! I read the first two parts of the three part story using your links. I understand Ruth Ann's comments, but it's too bad the police couldn't work WITH the rally to ensure a fun and safe (and FAST) trip for all participants. Surely there are some roads where anyone driving a car eqipped to drive fast safely could "go all out" with police blessing providing they signed waivers or something. Yes, I know, there are laws. Federal and state. Maybe private property?

Hey .... after 43 years .... I think I've heard it all .. if I let everyone's opinion on road laws (and all the stories on whether they should or should not have gotten their tickets ... because everyone, even me, has a story) have an effect on me, I wouldn't have many friends .....
But what kind of a wife would I be if I didn't stand up for my man?
And, I happen to agree with you George .... when rally's that ensure that speed will be a factor - certain routes should be set up in advance .... so, maybe that's the issue. And not the guy who wears the badge.
Actually, I would love to do a rally .... and I love our convoys more than anyone .... and I think we've been very lucky more than once.
Now ... with all of that said ... I am off of my soapbox, and will leave it to the rest of you to get up on yours.....
That's the great part about this forum .... opinions .... and whether we want to agree, disagree or even read them at all!

Good old Arizona and New Mexico, they are just waiting for Hans and Standby to try that 158 again. We got away with it twice as was darn lucky. Those pics remind you guys of RII in New Mexico, that God we had some badges with us.
I'm going to be so good on this trip.............................NOT! Nothing in front for 5 miles and nothing in back for a half mile and we drive like we stole it. Getty up little doggy.

Bring it! You will all have to do better than 100, the club starts at 158 mph

I got up to 163mph... would have gone faster but turns out I lost a wheel weight and my front end was shaking like crazy... didn't get to run it up to speed again after I got it re-balanced... here's a photo of a the Garmin I was using as a "2nd opinion" GPS...

163? Which again brings up the subject of the "Gentleman's Agreement" and the govenor.....;) :confused:
