CARFAX report > some possible red flags appear to me,,,

Have you read the detail from the CARFAX report on the car? >> CARFAX Vehicle History Report for this 2007 CADILLAC XLR: 1G6YV36A075600880

Number of previous owners, mileage, and any involved accidents are what I look at closely.

Leaks, paint condition, and curb rash wheels are my next points of interest.

Good luck,,,,,mostly, they are great cars............but with 3 previous owners and the last owner being short term .... and being involved in a accident, as reported,,,, I'd personally look elsewhere. JMO

This is a good point - we have a friend who is a former Cadillac dealer who helped us find our XLR-V, & who explained to us you don't want to see a lot of prior owners because that indicates they were unloading a problem.

That said, keep in mind Carfax sometimes has some strange interpretations of changes in ownership that aren't really new owners, & sometimes (as seen on here) people buy these cars as a "flavor of the week" to play with for a bit & then unload. So, doesn't always mean something is wrong as it might with a less "exotic" car.

I definitely would be cautious about a XLR that's been in a rear end accident. Very likely to mess up the top operation & alignments in ways that will never get permanently straightened out.

Having owned a couple performance shops and a custom body shop I agree with Zen and XLRating for the most part. Definately want to look at the small details like road rash on the wheels and damage to small trim areas in the interior. Those items show the previous owner (PO) was not careful with her and indicates maintenance and other item might have been neglected. In addition, I have found on these XLRs there is a small coolant hose that runs from the tank through several T's and finally to the passenger side. That hose is $78. It it has been repaired vs replaced, walk away. The PO was not willing to pay the price for proper parts and maintenance.

As far as number of owners and previous accidents, while good points are made, it should not always be an immediate determent. I keep vehicles for 3-4 months, and sometimes less. I don't get rid of them because they are a problem, I get bored very easily with cars. In addition, all mine have been in previous wrecks. However, I am picky about the ones I purchase to rebuild, and I always document the process so the purchaser will know I am not hiding anything. Let's get real, these cars are 6-10 yrs old and statistically speaking they are going to be involved in accidents. I have been looking for a buildable XLR for some time. I finally found one in Orlando that met most of my criteria. It is a Southern vehicle, so no corrosion issues, has had good maintenance, and was involved in rear ending something. All the damage was above the frame and forward of the radiator. On a negative note I rarely buy one if the airbags have deployed, but I could see where the sensor was damaged in the accident deploying the airbags, but not causing frame damage. I would not touch an XLR that has been hit in the side or in the rear. The outside edge is where the primary support framework is for the chassis and the rear tolerances are critically important for the top to operate and seal correctly. If there are no repair pics, be VERY concerned.

The last item is the price. I know appears clean, and has low mileage, but that is asking a lot of money for one that has been previously wrecked. When I sell this Xenon Blue I am rebuilding now, I will ask $10k-12k less than he is asking for that one. If one deals with rebuilds, one knows you are not going to get full book value no matter how great a job is performed and documented. That is why when a vehicle is repaired and not totalled, the insurance gives you a sum for devaluation due to the accident. As always YMMV and just my $0.02...

Since the Carfax says minor damage and not a rebuilt title, I wouldn't expect a $10-12k reduction in price compared to other similar, non-wrecked vehicles. However, I would be concerned that the car has just sat around with virtually no miles put on it and been sold looks like three times since August, 2014.

For the price of this car, I agree with AL_Jazz and the others, I'd look elsewhere. It's nowhere near a "great" deal, and the Carfax info would make me uncomfortable.

He's posted some in his introduction thread. I've been reading and watching. :)

Besides info given, I personally dont like what appears to be Plasti Dip on the rims. Black rims ok, Plasti dip Caddy rims no way....Also if you go to look at car remember Silver is almost impossible to match. The color can be blended to match, look closely.....Good Luck

wow thanks

Thanks guys what a great site to see such interest. I belong to a couple of other forums and next to my cruisers yachts forum this is defintely top notch.

Found another one with this description. Other wise report is good. But sounds like I should be concerned with top function?
