How accurate is the low Oil Level indicator that appears on the dash display? A quart low? Also I received a status from On-star 15 days ago and it indicated that I had 87% left before oil change, yet now 15 days later I get the low oil level indicator display?

The 87% refers to oil "life" not quantity/volume so you need to physically check your
oil level........

Low oil level display

I started the car , let it run for a few minutes then waited a few minutes. The oil stick showed a little bit below the full mark. Looks like maybe half a court low??

According to the owners manual the hatched area represents 1 quart.

Low oil level display.

Thanks, hdduane.

I have to check it again. I noticed when the car is sitting all night and I check the oil level, in the morning, manually, nothing appears on the dip stick, but if I start it up and let it run for a few minutes then shut it off and let it sit a while the dip stick shows it almost full. Is this normal??

It doesn't seem like it should be that different, but the owners manual does say "Turn off the engine and give the oil several minutes to drain back into the oil pan. If you do not do this, the oil dipstick might not show the actual level." so I would believe what you see when the engine is cold.

It sounds like you are not wiping the dipstick off before sticking it back in the tube. It will splash on the stick when running and must be wiped off, then stuck back in the tube and reread at that time. After sitting over night I assume it is running back down the stick and showing true at that time.
