Hi everyone, I am a New Forum member. I have had 2007 XLR basis for about 5 years and drive it only on the summer, garage kept otherwise. Its been a fun car to drive and enjoy. This year, started having a problem with raising the passenger window, at first it made screeching sound when lowering and the raising that make it run slow. Seemed to be only happened when it was cold. The other day it went about 1/2 way up and stopped as if the power was removed. It currently lowers slowly and raises to the 1/2 way point and stops. During the movement there is a quest clicking or ratcheting sound until it goes silent when it stops. Tried the trick of holding both windown down for 30 seconds and raising but passenger window stopped 1/2 way up.

Called by local dealer and they are trying to find a new regulator, assembly but I fear they will not find one. So requesting help, what are my best options. Have the manuals and remove and replace seems simple but worried about the unknowns. Thinking I should buy the "replace cables kit" found on line but worried might need a special tool to install them in my frames and if my motor might be the culprit and need replacing.

Seeking advice from forum membe(s) that had similar problem and how they resolved it:cool:

The cable kits are fairly eady to install. The drivers side has all the control modules built in the motor. They are expensive used. The passenger side rarely fails and a used assembly can be bought on ebay. Dont pay over 200 for one thats all they are worth. A used replacement may need to be ptogrammed with a tech two scanner.. I think a cable kit properly installed may fix your problem

Thanks for your inputs. Have a NO GO from the dealer for locatring a new replacement. So my plan is to remove it today and verify it is not the motor. If broken cable will purchase the kit on Ebay for ~$100. Hoping if I am careful will not need to have a tech two scanner adjustment. Thanks for your thoughts. Will repost with my final results. theres not been any new for two years. The cable kit may fix it for you. Be sure to keep it in time . if you take it out with window up put it back the same place before putting power on it
