[h=1]No Fob Detected Message[/h] I have 2008 XLR and keep getting the No FOB detected message and it won't crank. Usually after 2 or 3 attempts, it will crank but not today. Also, it usually takes a good 5 minutes of trying to unlock the car w/the FOB before it unlocks. I know there's some way through the glove compartment but, of course, the glove compartment won't open! Is there a way to change the battery in the FOBs? If so, how? Thanks!

If you cannot get into the glove compartment - it may be locked. It is not electronically locked - it has a key. The key is built into the keyfob - its the silver metal top of the fob (release button right below). Once you unlock the glove compartment - there is a slot that you can stick your keyfob into and it will allow you to start your car. The battery can be replaced on your keyfob by simply prying apart the fob and replacing the flat CR2032 battery. See attached picture (from the owners manual). Hope this helps.

Can the later model fob with a removable key be programmed to work on a 2006?

Thanks, Steve

I have an '08 fob programmed for my '05... yes. Having the key inside the fob is a bit more of a challenge. I bought a couple of "08/09" fobs from ebay and was able to program to my '05 XLR. But both fobs were used and therefore, the key part does not work. I am still trying to figure that part out - for now, I keep the separate key with me when I go on our XLR trips - just in case. I think Gizmo figured out a way to get a replacement key for the newer key fob to work.

Hope that helps.

Was a bit fun teasing the wife that I spent $462...err...$4.62 to do both FOBs...was thinking a dealer reprogram or something like that.

thanks for the .jpg file...the 06 does not have the key, but the rest is the same.
