No power to top or trunk. Press the button nothing happens. Found the 25 amp fuse blown and I replaced it but still have nothing. Any suggestions to get me started on a repair?

Did u check the fluid level for the trunk. It’s in the left side cubby in the trunk.
If you have the trunk emergency key then try opening it that way

No power for the retractable top

Hi vg59

If you had a fuses burned that means, it could very well be an electrical problem or the motor (and its thermistor) that can not supply the hydraulic pressure in the system.

The fuse that you replace should be #44 behind the passenger floor carpet, next to it is the fuse #45 for the auxiliary relay, check it out, as this relay feed the components for the top functions. ( check for a wet floor carpet, that could be also the source of the electrical problem)

Under the hood check the fuses #29 ( battery 2 ) and the fuse #33 ( battery 1) that feed the module and the auxiliary relay the power and then the top switches to function.

If all fuses are OK then it could be very well the motor with its components, to get the top opened…..then call the expert.

I have that same problem now on my 2007-V! Dealership found my trunk latch shorted out. They have one on order! Should have it in a week. $600 for the latch and another $500 for install! Sorry to ruin your day....

That’s dealer pricing for you, I got one from rockauto for about $330 and took me about 30 min to install.

Trunk latch repairable ?

caddy dick.

Yes....the first item that start the operations ot the retractable top, is the latch, if all the electrical are in good order.

When you get the old one remove, it could be interestingly if the latch could be taken apart, as the photo attached shows it could be open and may be repaired, that would be an excellent find and a lot more economical for all of the members.

Thanks

IAN:thumbsup

I will look at it and let you know! New one was installed, still wants to work when it wants too. Installed new module,($800.00) more! Same thing! Now they are thinking pump motor?...

I just ordered a used latch off ebay for $150. Im hoping it fixes my issue. I'm getting a b1297 on the tech 2 and after diagnosing, it looks like its that latch actuator.

Update: Trunk actuator replacement did nothing, gonna rebuild the pump next and pray thats it.

I finally had some time to check things out. Found both the top control module and the ride module fried. The hole in the trunk compartment was plugged and filled with water shorting out the modules. Ordered the top control module but cant find the ride module. Hopefully replacing the top control module will solve the problem but not sure what I'm going to do about the ride module.

ride control modules bring about 2500 used on ebay. They are super hard to find. good luck and if you buy one from a North Carolina seller it may not be good and no warranty.
so is your limit to 80mph message coming on your dash?

Yes I have two messages, service ride control and the 80 mph message. I’m hoping the new module for the top solves the top problem.

Modules repair shops .

V159

There could be an other way to solve the problem.

On internet, see if you can find a shop that repairs printed circuits, as the modules are mostlly a board in a black box with soldered components.

It could bethe moisture, the solder or some other components that the specialist could repairs.

Call and ask, you could be surprised, they are perhaps less expensive then a new ( if available ) one.

Good luck

FWIW. If you get a replacement top module, pop it open prior to installation. There are 3 snap locks that hold it together. Mine, at one time, had been half full of water and had lot of corrosion on the circuit board inside. Be a shame to put it all back together and have it quit again.
