Does anyone have the capability to play a DVD while moving that has NOT done the speed sensor wire mod to the head unit wiring?

2004 and Early model 2005's are able to punch in a code on the screen and accomplish this, unless there has been software updates performed by the dealership to the vehicle. Can't remember for sure, but I thought it was a 4 digit code. There may be an old thread on this here somewhere.

I tried to search for the old thread, but couldn't find it. I think it is pretty amazing that you could drive down the road watching a DVD. I've never seen that before. In a few early vehicles I have seen being able to input GPS destinations after some nag screen or such.

Okay I believe this is what they sell on ebay for 5bucks. Someone told me so here it is. Press and hold the little button above the volume control knob "it has a little not on it". Soon the screen will display a number keypad. Press 1791 and enter. You also need to enter the code to get the screen to flip up to change the DVD while driving. Enjoy donations are always excepted :wave:theirs also a procedure to be able to change navigation settings while driving.

I feel the same way, would also rather be listening to music, than the audio from a movie! With over 2,000 songs on my ipod, I can go 5 straight days without hearing the same song......if I feel like it.:lol: Looks like it may finally be warming up, so I may have to go get Scarlett-V out this weekend. Spencer-V made it out early, for the Sebring trip. Have already washed him twice and just ordered new tires for some rims I picked up this winter. Looking forward to seeing you at some of our meets this year!!

Thanks Cubby.

I'm OK that it doesn't work. I really find the road more interesting than a DVD. I don't use the NAV system in the car since it's accuracy is so poor. I do like knowing about this stuff. It is kind of like an Easter Egg the designers put in.

Thanks

Phrede, my system works with both the 1791 coding AND the total Touch Screen coding.
For the Touch Screen, the procedure is as follows:

1. After starting your engine select the 'Plan Route' screen by pressing the 'Route' button on the right side of the screen.

2. Hold your finger on the right bottom corner of the screen for about 10 to 15 seconds then another screen will appear with 10 Touch Screen buttons. Touch the top left 'RUN' button and it will change from dark blue to green. I believe this puts the system in a TEST MODE.

3. Look up at the top right corner of the screen and under the Time & Temperature degree factor, (F or C) sub-screen, you'll see the bottom portion of a Touch Screen Button. This is an 'ENTER' button and you'll have to place your finger nail on the screen under this button and gently slide it up until it activates. When it does, you'll be returned to the 'Plan Route' screen.

This procedure will be canceled when you park and turn OFF the engine and will have to be re-programmed before starting the next leg of your trip if you're alone.
It can also be preformed while driving but you should have your passenger do it!
If this works for your or anyone else's system that is reading this, PLEASE WRITE THIS PROCEDURE DOWN AND GIVE IT TO YOUR PASSENGER SO THEY CAN PREFORM IT. DO NOT TRY TO DO IT YOURSELF WHILE DRIVING.

IF this works on your system, you'll be able to eject your NAV disk and insert a DVD and play movies or even better, play MUSIC DVDs while driving down the highway. I have found the audio quality is sooo much better than the CD's.

If you're using the NAV system, you can make route changes without having to slow down to under 10 mph or stop completely!

I know that several members of this and the other forum have tried this procedure and it didn't work for them, even the 05 model years. I think it may only work with the Limited Edition Star Black Metallic 06s.

Give it a try, what do you have to lose? If it doesn't work, it will not effect your system and if it works a little and does effect your system, just shut it OFF, wait 10 to 20 seconds and it will default back to the original settings.
