power door locks

I had read that in the 06 manual but have not found an 08 yet to confirm, Since you have a 06 do you have the 08 manual or just going by a reprint online? Many of those are copies and they just reprint one year to cover all years. My dealer had checked and said the 08 and 09 had to be put in park to unlock the door.

Government regulations change a lot for safety reasons. Faster airbags, delayed airbags, many reasons a company makes a small change from year to year. When my passenger presses the unlock button, it just locks back before they can open the door so I think their is an issue or its made that way.

I was using an online manual...but I can tell you that my wife's 2012 CTS coupe that has the exact same door mechanisms right down to the push buttons and emergency releases...the doors will unlock while in drive to let someone out and then re-lock when you start moving again.

thanks ghawk. I just rode In my friends 17 vette and his does the same thing mine does. He said he never noticed it as he never rides anyone with him. His car is soooo much quitter inside than my xlr. Until he gets on the exhaust it has no road noise ,no wind noise . I may be trading.

2017 is a C7 generation started in 2013 so its not compatable.

duhh, I sort of know that. Just saying somewhere along the line Gm may have wanted it to work that way as his Vette does. And whatever they did sure dropped the noise level. Its still a plastic car bonded to a metal frame.
I have taken care of the locks to suit me . I disconnected the wire from the selector to the locks. Everything works well and its a done deal.

dead thread.
