show advice - roof?

I never thought much about "showing" my car, more of a driver than a show car. However, I've been talked into putting in on display in a local show. There will be mostly American muscle on display and some feel the XLR-V will fit because of it's rarity even though it is not old.

I was thinking putting the roof half way would be a good way to show off it's uniqueness. Those of you who remember my roof woes... it has been working flawlessly since the sensors were all replaced. My concern is running the battery down because of the trunk lights being on etc.

What if I disconnect the battery (a new yellow Optima, BTW)? I realize that I will need to re teach the windows up and down before the top will go up or down when it comes time after re connecting the battery.

Any thoughts about the roof or other general show advise?

Not to worry. The trunk light will time out and go off.

Phrede your car is American muscle. When summer time hits around Chicago I wouldn't hesitate to put my beauty in with the best of them. Your right the car is very unique and many people don't even know what it is or if it's brand new little do they know they've been out for almost ten years. With the top down would be the best way to show in my opinion. Half up is too risky besides battery issues even though everything shuts down after 20 min. People will get the point that it's a conv. My luck a wind gust would come or someone would go up to it and lean on the roof or something then what. I would have the engine cover off with the hood popped about two inches so that people could get a glimpse of the supercharger and hopefully chrome inlet tubes and cai.
Either way people are gonna love it you just have to protect her from all the wandering hands. If anyone says anything about not being nostalgic or american muscle ask them to line them up the V will dust about half of the old muscle out there. Happy waxing!

waaaay more than half

Show it without concern. The "muscle" heads are always impressed with a one horsepower per cubic inch ratio - when they learn that your stock V is getting 443 out of 265 (tell them it's a de-stroked 283) even the 435/427 folks will acknowledge your 1.67hp per cubic inch is special. You'll get the respect you deserve.

I have the 05 and it's not a V but I put my car in all the shows around here when ever I can. They just love to see something different. Last year I had a guy ask me if it had 650 HP I just laugh and said not quite that much. I show my with the hood and trunk open than they can see the roof displayed in the trunk. Don't be surprised at all the people asking you question they just don't know much about these cars so they love to question them! I bought a diecast 1:18 scale XLR Silver by Hot Wheels that I put out on the motor and made up a print out info sheet too! Here some pics from a local fire company car show last spring. Enjoy :rocker:

Thanks for the replies. Things went well and the car got a lot of attention. Most of the time two buddies where one knew what he was looking at while the other did not. Lots of compliments and questions. I think if I have to do it again I may try to be exhibition only and forgo the judging/trophy part. There just was not a class that was a good fit. Just by luck I was parked next to a '93 Allente.
