I have a car with a first year 3.6 liter direct injection engine & 58k miles. It was acting up recently, & when I was doing some research on it I ran across commentary that this engine runs hotter so spark plugs have only been lasting about 50k miles. Manual doesn't call for replacing them until 100k. Unfortunately, I didn't run across the info on replacing them sooner until after a coil got fried, a $500+ repair job.

I'm curious if anyone here has a newer version & if the manual recommendations have changed. Or if maybe you've had the same thing happen as me.
