I think My GPS is having a senior moment. I have a set of version 8 disks, and my unit will show you POI's and you can enter addresses, mark way points, and do everything else until you pick a place that you want to go to.

You pick your destination and the system tells you it's calculating a route. After a little while a message pops up telling me that it is unable to calculate the route.

Has anyone ever run into this? How do you totally reset this system? Would pulling the fuse to the system and killing the power for a few minutes reset this unit? :dunno:

Should I use a bigger hammer?? :D

Not sure if this will work in this case, but have you disconnected the battery for about 1/2 hour or so, then reconnecting it. This usually will reset all electrical systems in the car. Of course, you will have to re-index the windows to get your top to work. To do this, put the windows down all the way, and hold the button in the down position for 5-10 seconds after the window is down. Do the same when you put the windows back up.

No I have not disconnected the battery as of yet. I am going to pull the fuses to this unit and see if that will reset the unit, then I'll disconnect the battery if pulling the fuses don't help out.

I don't have a set of tech manuals yet so I don't know if there are any tricks in the manual(s) to help with a reset of a single unit instead of the whole car.

I've reset the passenger's window once last week. Not sure what happened to the index but when I shut the window it came back down to 1/2 open - 1/2 shut. I use to have a 2000 Jaguar XK8 and you indexed the windows on that car as you do on the XLR's when you pulled the negative battery cable to reset the car's several computers.

Thanks for the suggestion Rod.

Please don't take this wrong. My GPS has had a couple of incidents where it "lost track" of what map area you had selected for routing. Make sure that the correct area of the national map is selected for finding the route. It's on the main routing display, methinks.

FWIW :dunno:

I expect you've checked this, but just in case... Is the region set to include the state containing your destination?

Busaman and boughtxlr: On the regional map I have #1 selected for OR, WA, ID.

I found some information on all data that the unit may have to have the radio/nav system's software updated. From what I read on alldata, the dealer has to use his disk to update the units software. I'll do more on my end before I take it to the dealer.

Do you have OnStar? If so, you can always ask one of their technical service people for some assistance in diagnosing the issue. :dunno:
