Theft deterent

When parking my car in unsecured lots at night, ie. movie theator, etc. I feel insecure leaving my car. Although our cars have a comprehensive theft deterent system, there are, available to thieves, devices that will spoof our remote access fobs and leave our cars vulnerable to theft. A further capability to selectively disable the ignition, or fuel delivery seems desireable.
Has anyone installed such a capability on their car and wish to tell about it?

I feel the same way all the time I leave mine out anywhere. I too would like to know what the best way to cut the fuel or disable it so thieves can't steal.

Don't take this the wrong way, but if you are too paranoid about leaving your car out unattended, perhaps it's time to get rid of it and get something else. Drive the car and enjoy it, if it get stolen, that's what insurance is for!!

And think of this guys, if the car thefts REALLY want your XLRs, they'll just back up their tilt bed tow truck to it and drag it onto that truck and drive away.

I know that our cars have great security and i agree that the thieves will have all the opportunities to steal our nice rides. But whats the trouble in a little extra security.

There's nothing wrong with a little extra security.

When I park my car in an unfamiliar place I employ either this guy or his wife to watch it.




Heck, sometimes I even afraid to go near it!

The point is, that there are options. You just need to be creative.


P.S. If you get to know them you'll find that they are really a nice couple.

I think I'm just going to make up or buy a bypass SPST switch for the fuel pump fuse and tuck it where it isn't obvious.

I don`t leave my xlr any place I don`t think its safe to do so. I drive my Eldorado instead. I don`t drive my xlr on the freeways. I don`t drive my xlr downtown Seattle. I don`t drive my Cadillacs any place where the population has a high degree of stupid people. Oh yea, I carry.

I agree with you there. I stay away from the bad areas of jacksonville. there is a weekly car cruise on saturdays. But the location isn't the best area of town to get to. You have to drive through a rough area and even when you go through in the daytime, you kind of take a big chance. My friend was in a area in downtown jax and he saw his share of drug dealers and call girls. he even got robbed at knife point by these guys. It was getting towards dusk.
