I've learned the CD changer does not work in my XLR. I get an error message when trying to load a cd. Can anyone recommend a repair shop that might repair this? Thanks

I've had mine get confused while trying to eject a CD.

All I did was pull the fuse for a few minutes then put it back in and that fixed the problem.

Worth a try.
Won't work in my case, I had the battery disconnected while installing a new ignition starter button, and it still won't work

My CD changer went TU as soon as I loaded the second CD into it. I heard an awful "crunching" sound then got the fatal error message. I took it to Cadillac and they replaced it under warranty. It was a $750 part not 2 hours of labor at $135 per. So grateful I insisted on a good warranty.

Which warranty did you get?

Longgevity and GM CD changers don't go hand and hand,,,,

Our changer worked fine with 1 CD in and playing. When we added three more for a road trip,,,,it took a dump and wouldn't play. Couldn't eject them either. After weeks of playing with it, finally got the last three to eject, but the first one still remains and will not play. I watched the YouTube video on how to get a stuck CD out of the GM unit via work bench disassembly of the entire unit. Figure I can get it all apart as shown,,,,but not in 10 years could I get it back together and working.. Over my head and patience level.

Check for a Delco electronics Service Facility near you. If there's one within reasonable distance, they can remove the changer, repair it and reinstall without paying dealer prices.

If you are comfortable removing the unit yourself, you can ship it to any one of many facilities qualified to repair it.

I am fortunate to be within a reasonable distance of such a facility by the name of Downtown Radio Service in Charlotte NC. This is the place that most of the dealers in the region, including CarMax, send their factory audio components for repair. I have used them to repair the factory AM/FM radio in my 1966 GTO and the radio and cassette player in my 1989 Chevrolet S10 Cameo.

Which warranty did you get?

I purchased the car from a Lexus dealer and got a $0 deductible, 4 year/50K mile exclusionary Warranty. It's through Toyota Motor Credit Corp "Platinum Pre-Owned Vehicle" warranty product.

So far I've only had the CD changer replaced under warranty and that went through without a problem. But as we speak the car is at the dealer to have the top motor/pump module replaced, a new radiator, new rear shocks and new hood struts. It's like $8500 worth of work, so it's taking a bit of arm-twisting. But we're getting there.

So very grateful I had the good sense not to drive it away from the lot without a warranty!!
