I am looking for the procedure to compression test a 4.4 liter lc3. Do I need to take the belt off the supercharger and remove all the plugs? Does the vvt need to be turned of or any procedures for that to get accurate reading. Do I just let the push button start keep trying to crank after full compression is read is there a way to stop the starter after several times turning the engine.

Last four steps out of pic are install air duct to TB, install spark plugs, install PCM, and install ignition fuses to the IP fuse block

Yes, it’s specific to the LC3. I’ll see what I can find for a bleed down test. Is that what is sometimes also called a leak down test?

Yes sir that's it. Thanks
Putting some upgrades in the engine and want to check condition first

Cool. Hope your findings are all positive and the upgrades go smoothly!

Thank you!!!
Do you have the procedure for changing brake pads front and back? Also correct process for bleeding the entire brake system for 2006 v? I'm painting my calipers and changing brake fluid. I just want to make sure there nothing special have to do when removing calipers. And some cars need the abs pump activated with a tech2 while bleeding brakes to get air( or all old fluid) out of the abs module.

I've probably got at least 10 more of these procedure I would like to know if your willing to keep helping. I eventually going to get a dealer service manual just not sure which ones are 100percent complete. Leaning towards a helminc manual. They claim there are literally dealer digital manual converted to paperback. 4 books just for 2006 and $550.

Possibly a list of all the fluids that gm recommends for 06 XLR v! Changing all of those also!!

Haha I know that feeling!

I’ll look them up. It’s tricky as I can’t get pdf’s, just old school screen shots as you see.

Do you have a tech2 you’ll be using for ABS bleed?

Edit - and do you have a pressure bleeder of some sort?

This one I do have in PDF form - owners manual does a good job with this. Page 6-92 for capacities and 7-11 for specifications (including part numbers). The oil spec was superseded by Dexos1 Gen3.

So here are the relevant tidbits, for calipers, pads & rotors.

Fronts: nothing fancy, regular dual piston calipers. Mounting bracket to hub is 175Nm. Clean the mating surface of the hub where it meets the rotor, while you have it off. Caliper guide pin bolts are 31Nm and the banjo bolt is 45Nm.

Rears: single piston caliper but otherwise no difference from front. Same torque specs even.

Fluid: assuming you have pressure bleeder and Tech2, I'll attach pics. Note the sequence of which wheel gets bled is a little unusual for the pressure bleed, then even more fun is that my Tech2 followed a slightly difference sequence when i did the automated bleed.

I have a pressure bleeder and a tech2 i can borrow from a ftiend

Do you have the process for draining, refilling and bleeding the power steering and the engine and supercharger cooling system?

Also would like to know how to replace the pcv valve and thermostat. Info on testing the ignition coils with waveform or a multimeter and how to remove the coil plug boots and replace them? The boots I got are same ones that replace 07-09 and if the info I've read is correct the 06 v has different coil packs than the rest of the XLR and I don't think the boots are replaceable on my coils.?

Great questions. PS system info attached. I’ll get the cooling system info next, and follow Mickey’s advice for the coils/boots.

Cooling system pretty straightforward. The steps cut off from second photo are just “let engine cool, top off coolant if necessary, inspect for leaks.”

Charge air cooling system is a little bit more involved, it has you using the tech2 to cycle the electric pump.

If the boots bad just replace the coil. They are not that expensive for good aftermarket
I do not have much experience with coil in plug ignition. this is the first car with c.o.p. ignition I have owned that has gotten plugs replaced. How do I know if the boots or springs are bad? Every boot on all the coils seem to be to big and just fall into the plug same when removing them. Doesn't even feel like there being pulled off a plug when I take them out. The springs are all slightly discolored and look like there wound to large to even make contact with the spark plug. I'm not sure what normal with this system I asked a few people and they all told me the spring usually just touches the end of the spark plug with c.o.p.I'm used to plugs wires snapping on to the plug and the boot seizing to the plug half the time. The Delphi coils are $32 each for my 06 $273 with shipping boots and springs are $3.50 each. The boots on the coils I have and the ones rock auto has are same and seem like there to short to cover the plug insulation? The only replacement.boots I can find for my coils have a replacement spring that closes in to a point that touches the plug and the boots are almost twice the length of the boot that comes on the coils factory. The factory spring also winds out and gets bigger so it sits around the plug connector instead of on the top of it? I'm wondering if the engenering on my coils was bad that's why the repair boots and springs are different? Either way the boot seems to be permanently attached to my coils.
The boots on my current coils look very clean inside and out not sure if there good or bad.
My car has been developing a shake about every 5th time I start it cold. As soon as the idle drops to normal about 20 seconds after starting it the engine shaking goes away. Did it for first time yesterday since I changed plugs and the shaking was worse than ever been.
Should I just buy 8 new coils then I guess is what I'm asking.lol
Here a pic of my coils and the replacement boots I'm supposedd to put on them.
