I have been checking into the Bluestar unit that is meant to replace your OnStar unit in your GM vehicle and still allow you to use all of the mirror controls with your new bluetooth hookup. The end game is to save you the ridiculous airtime charges and the monthly membership fee to be an...
Thanks Phrede; BTW....nice car! The system that you described actually replaces OnStar, is that correct? I really don't need OnStar and am ****ed about being charged 50 cents a minute for airtime that would be FREE on my cell phone! Does the unit that you mentioned plug into the same cables...
Bluestar by Costar
Has anyone done the change from OnStar to this other Bluetooth friendly system? The are providing all the diagrams and info for replacing the OnStar system with their module and claim it is simple, seamless and works with all of the internal functions already in the vehicle...
The other day my left front turn indicator bulb gave up. Thanks to information supplied by this group I was able to disassemble and remove the burned out bulb for replacement. (You DO NOT have to remove the tire or jack the car up to do this.) The bulb that came out was a 3757 but when I went...
Good question about drivers 1 and 2. I have only assumed that it is only on driver 1 as my wife (driver 2) rarely drives the car. I think your idea of re-teaching the seat, mirror positions etc is a good one and I will try it and see if there is an improvement. ccCclarke has opined that there...
Every now and then when I start my car, all of the settings for seat, mirrors, etc work just fine except the seat does not move forward. Then the next time it works just fine. I have changed the battery in the remote but don't know where to look next. Any ideas?
Hi Folks. Has anyone bought the ioro replacement tire pressure monitors for $50 ea and installed them? Was this successful and are they a good buy? My local dealer wants $108 per monitor!!! Yikes!
Time for new rubber. I have seen several comments about replacing the run flat tires with regular high performance tires. this seems to provide better performance and a reduced cost. Can anyone offer an opinion or comment about this question?
You're probably right about the fluid replacement, however, when the warranty ended, I took it in and had them do all of this work. They replaced every seal and gasket, changed the oil and fluids too. That was about 12,000 miles ago..... I have a hard time trusting these "service" professionals.
One More Thing....
One of my tire pressure sensors has quit working. It's likely a dead battery in the sensor. For only $108 they will provide the replacement part, not including the labour to install it. Is there another alternative to this. can I just change the battery in the sensor...
Well, today I took my baby in for an oil change and an overall check-up. They gave me a "world class" inspection for FREE! I have put 4000 kilometres on the vehicle in the past 2 years. I was advised that I needed to flush my rad, change out my brake fluid, and also change out my power...
I tried the procedure as indicated above. when I hold down the lock & unlock buttons simultaneously I only get one honk, not two....... There is no effect when I use my magnet on the rims....
Perhaps I'm not holding down the buttons long enough? I did give it about another 10 seconds after...
I imagine somewhere on the cpu unit there is a place where 4 connections are made for the tire pressure sensors. On my 05 XLR the left front tire is actually reading the right rear tire pressure. I discovered this when I got a low pressure warning and filled the indicated tire only to find...
Thanks for the insight. I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and take it to the local dealer for a peek. Mine is a low mileage car and doesn't see the dealer much for oil changes, lube jobs, etc, so it might be the simplest solution. Really appreciate the comments.
Thanks, I'll look further into that. I don't have the confidence in the local Caddie dealer to just have them tell me..... The creaking doesn't change pitch with a higher or slower speed when I go down the driveway, it sounds like a "frame" noise from flexing..... hmmmm.
I have some creaking coming from under the car when I head down the driveway in the morning. Not really noticeable during the day, just when I set off in the morning. Driveway is down a hill with a curve halfway down. Thoughts or suggestions?
Tricky door lock
I find sometimes that the driver door is less responsive to the fob than the passenger door. The lock seems to be sluggish on the driver's door and it often takes a couple of tugs to get it open. Any solutions out there? I am assuming that my fob battery is fine.
