Took mine to a muffler shop. He ordered a generic one (said that it might not fit) I went to see him today and he showed me the cats up on the lift. They are very small cats, almost square (MUCH smaller than the cat he ordered) Why would it be a problem to cut one of them out and replace...
Well another dealership down and still no idea what is wrong with my XLR. It has developed a whine and a grinding noise at very slow speeds around 15 miles an hour.
It shifts OK throughout the gears, If you apply light acceleration it doesn't make much noise at all.
The more research I do on the Torque Tube bearings, the less I think that is the problem. Seems that if the bearings have gone, I would have alot of vibration. I don't have any vibration that...
So I took it to a chevy dealer. I think they really don't see XLR's at all. Told them what i think it is, but they seem to think its a torque tube bearing that is going bad.
Want to charge 7 hours to diagnose. Not sure what to do. Said the sound is coming from the front of the car, not rear.
I know this can be a complicated topic, but perhaps someone here can post some easy to understand guidelines for wheel/tire fit for our cars.
I have a base 2005
I have noticed some say you should go with a C5 wheel vs C6? Not sure how different they could be based upon the size?
I would like...
Called my guy who replaced it he said that he absolutely added it. He also said it's the clutches chattering. And he thinks it needs a rebuild. Could be my shocks I guess. They are all shot. However the noise is very specific leading up to when it shifts.
So I decided it was time to change the transmission and rear end fluids. No issues, just time for a change. The rear diff fluid was changed at about 60 k. Now at 125k. Once it was changed, got the car back and noticed some chatter when it was shifting. (Or about to). The shop said that people...
I've read that some on here have had the headlight film applied, but I am having my front bumper repainted and I would really like to get it protected as well. Has anyone tried any other film products out there? Cost? Ease of installation on the xlr? Any thoughts welcomed.
when it sputters and idles roughly, how roughly?? I had a similar problem with mine, but the sputtering was brutal. The ignition coil had become unclamped to the top of the head and man it was a wild loping "sputter". Doesn't sound like the same thing but you never know. I think when my...
So I'm working on sprucing up the XLR, and my right side lights are out. A quick search for pn 15511060 gives nothing. I looked on GMPARTSDIRECT and the 15251160 looks like the right part number? Anyone can shed some light on this disparity I would appreciate it.
Also, CC mentioned that LED...
I have a list of wants, but i have the dark (ebony) interior. How about the sill plates? And i know you said the grill was damaged, but i could use a new emblem as mine is fading! Let me know.
Let me start by saying that a catalytic converter does that and only that. Converts certain forms of carbon molecules to other forms (CO to CO2) This serves to decrease the level of street-level noxious gases coming from your tailpipe. It DOES NOT reduce the levels of CO2 entering our...
Unless you live in a state that has a smog-testing requirement there isn't a single reason to touch your Cats.
If it is worth $2,000 to get a check engine light to go off, you must have a lot more money than me to waste.
Thank you for the chart, I am about to undergo an LED conversion. Cubby, I know you said you bought the 5000K and it was "close" for the foglamps, do you think the 6000K would be closer in color?
Also, my interior button lights are starting to burn out (on the dash above the start button), i...
I just passed 100K miles and I have had mine replaced twice now, one at 50 K and one just now. The car was mostly in Michigan, just moved to Louisiana. No indications here....
Would a certified shop be willing to make such a "repair"?? Would the rear sensor need to be turned off permanently, even after the "repair"? My car is setting off the same code.
I tried to reply to my thread last year once I had the problem fixed. It was the shifter cable plastic grommet problem that has been documented a few places on this forum. There is a plastic grommet on the end of the cable where it mates up with the tranny on the rear of the car. It crumbles...
