Hello,I need help, I was driving and my 05 spuddered and died and now will not start. No check engine lights, turns over good, acts like it is out of gas but I had filled it up earlier in the day, had to have it towed home. PLEASE HELP. Thank you

You will need to check to see if you have proper fuel pressure. Check it with a fuel pressure gauge @ the port on the fuel rail. Fuel pressure should be 55-62 psi with key on engine off.

05 starting problem

Hello, there is no fuel pressure. Has fuel pump gome bad or is their something that can keep it from running? Thank you

There may be other things, but from the symptoms you described it is most likely the fuel pump. I had the same type of thing happen on one of my other vehicles. Same symptoms. I hope you get it fixed and I hope that it doesn't cost too much.

It could be the fuel pump or even the ECM. Have you tried adding fuel? You could a fuel transfer problem between the 2 tanks. What does the fuel gauge show?

Suspect List

In my experience, I'd also add dirty fuel or water in the gas to the list of what to check, in addition to the pump itself. I always try to go for the cheapest and simplest way out first ( :chuckle ). That module containing the pump "ain't" cheap, and the labor will be significant, 'cuz they hafta pull the left tank, too.

How far did you drive after you filled it up?

Tim

05 starting problem

I had only driven about 80 miles before it died. I now have the check engine light and my gas hand is showing 3/4's full but the DIC display says range is low. My gas cap does not seem to be sealing good going to buy a new one, I am not lucky enough for this to fix it.:pat:

Where is the car now? Was the gas cap loose before or is this something new? I think that you will have to bite the bullet and take it in.

Did you happen to fill up at a bp? Their was a big thing in Illinois about their being water in the gas from bp. They messed up one of my friends cars with their over priced junk. Hope everything works out for ya. If someone pulls the tanks have them check for a update of any cracks in frame supports located in rear above gas tanks it goes from driver to pass. side good luck.
