2006 XLR and XLR-V with Same Serial Number?

Here's an interesting situation I just stumbled upon....

2006 XLR: Cadillac XLR Net | Cadillac XLR Registry | 2006 Cadillac XLR #3898
VIN: 1G6YV36A365603898

2006 XLR-V: Cadillac XLR Net | Cadillac XLR Registry | 2006 Cadillac XLR-V #3898
VIN: 1G6YX36D865603898
Carfax: CARFAX Vehicle History Report for this 2006 CADILLAC XLR-V

Both cars seem to have valid VINs and CarFax reports, yet the same serial number??

It's definitely a duplicate entry with a typo/error.
Initially, it was entered as 'XLRV' and then entered correctly as 'XLR'.
Somehow, the XLRV entry was never omitted.
If you notice, the 4th & 5th digits of the VIN are representing an XLR Roadster, not XLRV.
Also, the 8th digit in the VIN is representing the XLR's motor (4.6 L), not the XLRV's (4.4L).
