2007 XLR fob problem

I do not have fob#1 The fob I got when I bought the car is #2. I purchased a used fob on eBay that now is #3.

My #2 fob stopped working even though the battery was only a few months old. I replaced the battery and it still doesn't work. I tried to re-match it. After I turn the key five times the display reade "READY FOR FOB #4. When i insert the #2 fob in the pocket the display reads "KNOWN FOB".

How do I remedy this? Thanks for your help.

this is a thread that discusses erasing all fobs from the memory and relearning them all over again.
probably what you are trying to do.
on a side note, that old fob #2 you have might just be broken, may not be able to recognize it.
might want to relearn that fresh #3 as the first fob
and then see if you can get #2 to activate again.
