Putting an after market "radio" in an XLR is easier than its made out to be. By no means am I an engineer, just saying. Take your time. Hardest part for me was mounting the unit. How you do that is up to you. A little more in depth in the pics. I used a 7200nex pioneer, awesome. Not using half of what it will do. I never uploaded anything, hope I did it right CD plug.jpgPioneer NEX.jpgRadio install.jpgRADIO.jpg

hey josua !!! thanks for your feed info ! i,m working on my radio swap as we speak ! question, does your unit have a direct 3.5mm plug input at the rear, for your steering control ? ( swc )

Looks great josua!

Did you install back/front cameras? If so, which ones did you go with?

Josua, did you keep the original radio in the trunk. Rexster says you do not need to, wondering if you did?

The original radio and cd are in my basement, Rexter is right on. Don't remember which camera I used, its part of a black license plate frame, almost invisible. Ebay. Food for thought...be really careful where you run the wires. Follow the original harness exactly! First time i wired it and put the top down the roof linkage cut the new wires clean as a whistle. Also to mention, it's a ton easier to do this with the top down, then open the trunk. Careful with the antenna wires.
A question for anybody. Are the cig lighter and power port HOT all the time or do they shut off after so long?

Josua and Rexter314, thanks for the tips, and following original harness for wires is always a good idea, I will make sure they take no shortcuts. So after telling the custom stereo shop I am working with that I do not want amp/radio in the trunk--this is what they said are doing now. Since the Bose system is actually running at 250watts and the new units are like 50watts, they are replacing the original OEM amp with a new one integrated with my new double-DIN Sony to drive all the speakers in the Bose system adequately (even the ones under both seats which I didn't even know were there!), doing that, I can get rid of original radio/and amp like you both suggested was possible. USB connections will be in center counsel. They claim it will sound a lot better than original--albeit I am usually just listening to the Corsa exhaust! Back up camera of course going in--main reason I am doing this truth be told, and they are making a custom bezel for the mounting, etc., I will post pictures and details of what was used etc. when it is done and put my car photos in the garage which I have not done yet. Cheers.
