had a 2007 XLR for 5 years - unfortunately I moved on to newer technology
I spotted this in Automobile - May 2013 and finally went to the website.

This helps to bring back those memories of yesteryear including visiting the dealerships in September and October and bringing home the new car brochures and studying them for hours. I couldn't convince my dad, a Buick man from 1954 to 1979, that he really should have gotten me a '67 GS400.

rear parking assist lights those useless lights on the waterfall between the seats and beeps as you back up and get close to things -- sensors are in the bumper.

Outside mirrors are heated when the rear defroster is on.

I don't think those rear parking assist lights are worthless at all. I tend to keep an eye on the lights and listen for the "ding" every time I'm parallel parking. Granted in a perfect world, GM would have put a rear back up camera on our cars, but, as you all know, this is FAR from a perfect world...

wish our cars had the rear camera. What if a deaf person was driving. Then the rear camera would be a good idea.

True but then they can watch the lights either in their rear view mirror or turn around and watch the lights. I use them all the time and for me, they work just fine.

I think the system is very useful. We was in Gettysburg an had resorations at a Grill & Pub along the rt 30 Chambersburg Main St. close to the square with only side street parking. I seen a spot and Wendy says you ain't getting in there and I said oh yes I am. I've notice our cars look like your against the guys bumper behind you, but still have 2-3 feet, so the system really helps judge how close you really are at the rear distance! Yes I got in just fine but she said I was a foot from the curb , but I was still in closer to the side curb than car in front & rear! I also added the Curb Alert on the front to save nosing the front end but don't help with a vehicle in front they are to high! I think they cost around $150 and pretty easy to install and look good too.
