2006 Platinum XLR-V
I was cleaning interior of my 2006 XLR-V (42300 miles)......I looked at the bottom of the nav face plate and saw dust...I hit tilt....it opened......I ran a clean rag along the bottom.......closed it. now I get CD error message....further when I open either driver/passenger door....I hear a a buzzing/rattling sound which stops after a few seconds......what did I do to offend the CD player?

Mr. CC. Clarke...............your thoughts, Sir!

As always all XLR owners owe you so much for your endless advice as to managing these works of art and keeping them pristine!

The area you are talking about, behind the screen when you tilt it open, is where the Navigation disc is located, not your CD player. Your message may pertain to the nav disc not the CD player. You may not have a nav disc if it did not eject when you tilted the screen. If that is the case, that is why you are getting the message, probably: Please insert CD or something to that effect.

MAKE SURE YOU USE A GENUINE NAVIGATION DISK OR NOT EVERYTHING WILL WORK PROPERLY

I once used a bootleg navigation disk for several years before it started acting up. I thought it was my navigation unit going bad. That unit cost over $2300 to repair and replace. Then I remembered that years ago I used a bootleg disk updated to 2009 specs because I didn't want to spend over $100 for a genuine disk. I changed the disk back to original and now the navigation unit is operating just fine.
