check engine light

If your check engine light is on and there is no message on the DTC, the only way to get the codes are with a Tech II. Your dealer is your best bet to find out what is going on. It could be a number of things.

Can anyone tell me how to assess the codes on 2004 XLR? We have a Deville and know how to assess those. Thanks!

Many codes are readable with a standard OBDII diagnostic scanner, as required by federal law. A TechII provides additional diagnostic functions. Do you know the code? Many parts stores will read them for free if you do not have a scan tool.

2004?

Might be as simple as a bad gas cap,,,and/or not re-installed 'tight'?

Best have it checked out though....

Thanks

It was the gas cap!! Yay! very thankful that is all it was
