Folks, here's something that puzzles me. I wanted to look up this white XLR in the registry, and found that the VIN shows as Black Raven.

Could a previous owner have had it painted? Or is someting else at work here? The car has pretty much a blank registry record, so that's no help.

If you're thinking of buying I would verify the cars vin number. The driver power seat control cover is also the wrong color, but that could have been replaced due to breakage. Looks like a nice car.

The door jambs and hinge areas etc all painted too. I’d wonder about the edges of the hood and areas around the firewall, and inside edges of the trunk lid. Color changing a car correctly and hitting all those little areas is a pricey proposition!

The xlr is very eady to color change and do it propely. The car lot is going to send me thebuild code sticker and it will confirm vin and color it came with

Oh cool - is that a common XLR thing? Usually it adds 50% give or take to the cost of a paint job.

Well yes its going to add. You already pretty much have the car apart to do a correct paint job. Idont see why anyone paying to change colr would not o with pearl white. The dealer said it looks like artic white. I dont know of anyone getting a custom color on the car from gm except mary kay and i think they were painted off site not on the line

Thanks for the replies, guys. mickeytee, I'll be very interested to see what you get from the dealer.

As regards shades of white--I've never been taken with the pearl whites. To me, it almost looks a bit beige. If I were switching, I'd want a straight-up real white.

Caddy had one of the prettiest pearl whites back years ago. It was very white but the pearls where almost mystic which changed colrs depending on angle. Had greens and blue.shades. a lot of pearl whites just look dusty
