I just purchased a 2004 xlr and found out today that the coolant fan does not come on. Any help determining where to look first?

Welcome to the XLR Net. I'm going to move your thread into the XLR Tech forum for greater exposure...

cooling fan

My xlr`s fan never been on. Never heard it running. My eldorado`s never came until I lost the head gasket. The first time I heard the fan running in the eldorado is when I pulled into the garage and the head gasket messed up. After I got it fixed, the fan has never been on. The XLR( repair manual) book says the fan dosen`t come on until coolant temp reaches 204f, or the oil temp reaches 302f and or, when the A/C pressure reaches 160 psi. Is your car over heating or are you just concerned? I don`t think you have a problem but, a Caddie dealer can tell you for sure.

Cooling fan...

Shortly after I bought mine last year I noticed the temp guage skyrocket... It was warranteed so I took it in. In my case the cooling fan was shorting and would only kick in intermittently and it was replaced with a new one. BUT I have never actually heard my fan while inside the car and after my temp guage incident I keep my eye on the dash for any discrepencies... Are you getting HIGH temps?
