Can anyone tell me if they had their car reflashed after installation of a exhaust system. Over the weekend installed a axle back exhaust. Took it for a ride after install and am very,very happy. Today was above fifty and sunny so why not took it to work. On the way home opened it up and at about 75 the check engine light came on. Pulled over checked everything that I could and everything looks good. Engine runs good no problem's. Stopped at the local auto parts store they hooked up the obd2 scanner and it says bank2 oxygen sensor miscommunicated. Question is could the car get this code from a car just sitting a lot 04-8,000 , or does the computer sense the new muffs and it had a brain fart for the different backpressure that's now present. Guy says code will clear after a few cycles if theirs no problem. Just wanna know if I should look further in to it. Thanks

Mufflers had nothing to do with your code. The mufflers are after the fact and o2 sensors do not read backpresure. You can erase it and if it comes back just replace the o2.

Do I have to erase the code, and by what means? If it was just a glitch will the car clear itself? Could it have been possible that when I installed my exhaust I had to tack some brackets on then I removed and finished,but could the voltage of the welder done something? Just seems weird that light goes after doing some welding. Won't lie was sweating and praying everything worked after was done. If it's just a bad o2 that's nothin.

I had a 2004 and the light came in all the time due to the o2 sensors. I have not had that issue with my 2006.

I installed a Corsa exhaust on my 2005 and have never had any problems with any O2 sensors or Check Engine lights since installing my system last summer. I did not have to have anything reflashed. Hopefully its just an O2 sensor. Shouldn't be too big of a deal, if the car is still running fine. Good luck!

Thanks for everyone's response. I hope it was a glitch, even if it's just a o2 sensor. Weather went south so I'll have to wait to drive. If it is the o2 do I have to have the code cleared or does the computer clear it after so many cycles. Yes the car runs fine with light on,just made my stomach drop being new and finding out how technical the electronics are in the space ship I mean xlr. Will I have to ref lash anything for the future intake upgrade? Thanks again.

The Check Engine light should go off after so many cycles (mine does). I can't answer your question on reflashing after future INTAKE upgrades (Gizmo should be able to answer that).
Yep, I had my XLR for a couple of days this past weekend - but she is back in the garage now.

The Check Engine with go off after so many ignition cycles, but the code will remain in the system. If the sensor is bad it will relight the check engine light again. The only way to erase codes is with a Tech 2, which your dealer can do.

Changing your exhaust shouldn't have affected the o2 sensor, many of us have changed the exhaust with no problems.

Thanks for all the good responses everyone. Wouldn't of thought that the exhaust would do anything. Haven't been able to drive weather isn't cooperating. If sensor did go bad guess it's just bad timing of course when I decide to mess with the exhaust. Always just my luck! Thanks again will spring ever get here!

Sometimes just moving a sensor around (banging on the pipes or something) can trigger it to go bad - I've had that happen with electronic sensors sometimes. Yea, dumb luck sometimes.

Since the cars are OBD-II compliant does that not mean the emission faults must be able to be reset with an OBD-II tool? Is a Tech 2 really required for an O2 sensor fault?

The OBD-II will work. Ive had it done on many things including an oxygen sensor.
