I am in the process of obtaining an extended warranty for my 2006 XLR, and I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations on where I should purchase one and get the best bang for my buck. The dealer where I purchased the car from is a GM dealer but not a Cadillac dealer, this what they quoted me for an "EasyCare" plan (which I think is third party, I would perfer a GM plan). I would like to get a plan that covers the top. Any suggestions are and will be greatly appreciated

Easy Care
5yrs / 75000 $0 deductible $4580.00
5yrs / 75000 $100 deductible $3040.00
5yrs / 75000 $250 deductible $2595.00
5yrs / 75000 $500 deductible $2295.00

Bump.....Bump....

Most of us were at an event in San Antonio. I went with the Major Guard and got it online from Black Pontiac/ Cadillac. Best price I could find. The Major Guard includes the top mechanisms. Important for this car. Most others will not.

Thanks gentlemen :worship:....I will look into the info that you have provided.

GMPP

Do NOT consider anything but the GMPP and take the best plan.

I bought mine from Fischner Chevrolet in Laurel Montana. Best price I could find and NO Sales tax.

I agree Fischner has the best prices, no hassles. I have them for my Corvettes as well.

I been looking at this GMPP. I'm confused about the top being covered on our X"s. I've got quotes from Fichtner Chev. The quote has a link to GMPP's web site: http://www.gmprotectionplan.com/ . If you look at what's not covered, it says: convertible and vinyl tops (??). Now,,,, does that mean just the fabrics on the tops or the convertible mechanical systems? The way it's worded in the GMPP agreement, our tops being covered could almost be up for interpretation,

I don't know

I do not know for certain if the GMPP Major Guard covers the X top or not. The top was the least of my concerns with the car.

I have heard that the mechanicals for the top are covered. But again am not certain.

My wife's Escalade is at the dealer. When I pick it up this afternoon I will ask and will post.

Info concerning top

I just returned from my dealership with the following information concerning the GMPP Major Guard plan for the XLR.

Per Ken Moore the service advisor at Parkway GM in Valencia Ca I work with: The entire top mechanical assembly and supporting electronics and hydraulics are covered by major guard. The top paint is not, nor are the mouldings or any trim pieces. Also once you have the GMPP it can be renewed if you initiate the renewal either 3 months or 3000 miles before expiration, which ever comes first.

Just sent in for my extended warranty, GMPP Major Guard, from Black Caddy. Here's the price sheet I was able to use:

http://www.gmoutlet.com/emailserver/quote/mg/10mgc7.htm

If your thinking about doing this,,, do it before Oct, 1st. Prices go up after that! And the salesman said something about (?) the 2007's and earlier years are going off the tables.

Got mine for about $2100. the 84 month coverage. I'm hoping it will be a good deal!! One repair will probably make it worth the $'s.

Thats a good deal theres no way I would keep the XLR without a warranty. Theres to many problems with it and as it ages more will show up. Very wise decision and a good price. Thanks for sharing with us all.;)
