extended warranty

The best extended warranty to get is GMPP from GM. I believe the only time this is available for purchase is BEFORE the original factory warranty has ended but it wouldn't hurt to check with your local GM or Cadillac dealer.
I've heard stories about aftermarket extended warranties and prefer to stay away from them.

If you get the right E/W, the answer is yes!

Deciding factors.

Are you purchasing from a Cadillac Dealer?

Is it the dealer that you intend to perform all scheduled maintenance and repairs?

Does the warranty pay the dealer direct or does it reimburse you for what you paid?

Review the coverage carefully. Very common to offer a 3-tiered level of protection, commonly referred to as "Silver", "Gold" and "Platinum". Each increasing level offers more coverage and consequently, a higher purchase price.

E/W prices from dealers are negotiable!

I purchased an E/W for Crimson Pearl. It covers everything with the exception of the Adaptive Cruise Control.

CP was purchased from the dealer that sold it new. The original owner traded it back in to the dealer with only 8,000 miles on it. I have that dealer perform all maintenance. Recently, I upgraded CP and added the rear-sway bar kit. I purchased the parts from my dealer and paid them to install the kit - just to avoid any issues down the road.

Food for thought.

Good luck! :)

Yes, going with an extended warranty is the way to go. I have had great success with GMPP and recommend it if your "new to you" XLR can qualify. I also agree that you consider obtaining your extended warranty from your favorite Cadillac service dealer. They should be able to help you understand the options available to you.

Congratulations on your new XLR. Consider joining in on the fun with this group. Perhaps Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta the first weekend in October?
