"Why do people keep telling me to SEARCH?"
If you are being told to
,
, and
, it is because the same question has been asked and answered repeatedly, and the veterans who have seen the answers before are letting you know that the answer to your question is not as elusive as the Holy Grail, nor the Fountain of Youth.
The Basics of Searching:
If you are a registered user, the Search "button" is the seventh (7th) word from the left, and the third (3rd) word from the right located in the top section of the screen, on the line that begins with "User CP."
The button says "Search," with a triangle that points downward next to it.
(Please note that this image does NOT contain the actual search button.)
Although it is not underlined, it is a hyperlink, and will open a text entry field when you click on it. When the text entry field is visible, enter your search criteria, then click the "Go" button to the right of it. If you are feeling adventurous, you could also try the "Advanced Search" link below the text entry field.
It is important to keep in mind that you may not turn up the results you are looking for with your first search. If this is the case, repeat the search using different keywords. It can be frustrating, but keep trying.
If after 15-20 minutes of searching you still can't find what it is that you're looking for, then post a new thread. If you are a s-l-o-w r-e-a-d-e-r, then please take more time to search, before posting a new thread.
"These results suck, is there a different way to search?"
If you're not satisfied with the results of your internal searches, you can also use Google to search the xlr-net.com forums.
To do this:
- go to the Google homepage (www.Google.com)
- in the query text entry field, type site:xlr-net.com followed by your keywords. (see image)
- then click on the "Google Search" button, and you will see the results of your search.
(Please note that this is not the actual Google Search engine.)
What to do if someone has told you to search:
If you get told to try not to take it personally and try searching again with different keywords, or tell the the person who suggested you search which keywords you used, and ask for some keyword suggestions. Mouthing off to them will most likely not get you any help, so try to be humble about it.
Now that you're ready:
Get out there and
,
, and
!!
Most importantly, Good Luck with your search!
