HUD Dimmer not working or indicated on DIC

The DIC shows Panel Dimming when headlights are on but never shows HUD Dimming.
Pressing Dimmer when headlights are off does not adjust brightness of HUD.
HUD is working other than that.
I'd like to dim it some thought.
