Welcome to the Cadillac XLR Forums!

I did it...

5. The latest XLR nav disk is GM Part Number 25979939U, version number is Rev.8. Others have had limited success with newer editions, but I'm with JohnXLRV and use googlemaps on my phone as backup.
There are NO newer editions. Rev 8 is the 2008 map update, which includes few (if any) road changes after 2007 and often even earlier. (Around me, local roads built in 2004-2005 didn't make the update). While current updated data for the XLR's Denso Gen3 system is available, Cadillac has chosen to not spend any money on purchasing it and formatting it for our systems.

I guess I won't worry about my 2007 needing an up-grade then. :dunno:

Haven't pick the 'V' up yet, the dealer is waiting on a new Cat-Converter to arrive (2-week lead time???)

Ozzie I just looked at the tag on the back of your xlr. That is where I got mine. Maureen was great to deal with. I hope you like yours as much as I do mine. I actually had 2 trucking companies bid to bring my car to Kansas but after 2 weeks of no movement, I flew there and drove it home. NICE DRIVE

I didn’t know you bought yours in NYS. I don't know Maureen, I'm dealing with Rick (Gen. Manager). In fact he just called me to say the Cat-Converter arrives this Thu but… the Caddy dealership only has one mechanic qualified to service the XLR's & he's involved in two other big projects right now & won't get to mine until the week of the 22[SUP]nd[/SUP]. He told me the engine needs to be dropped in order to install the Cat-Converter??? :(

I would speak to the Service Manager to get a clearer picture of what needs to be done. The engine in our cars cannot be just "dropped out". When they rebuilt my engine the entire engine, front suspension, torque tube, and rear suspension had to be dropped all as one piece. It took the tech about 16 - 18 man hours (2 days) to do this. This was the way to drop the engine prescribed by GM/TechData. Maybe they have a short cut to repair/replace the cats or they may be just trying to by time.

Well I'm VERY disappointed... made the 6-hour trip today to pick-up the ’07-V only to be discouraged. I guess overall it looked good for a 5-year old car but it needed; tires, front brakes soon and had many stone chips. Maybe I'm unreasonable but @ $43K (+ 8% tax) I expected a little more. We all know how much tires (etc.) can cost so I passed. The hunt continues. :(

I would have passed also, good luck with your continuing search.
