My 2006 XLR needs a new power steering rack and pinion and new shock absorbers. I have searched the forum for posts are in regards to this but couldn't find any that have the information that I need. I know that some owners have switched over to Bilstein shocks with simulators. The information I need is for the correct GM part number for the power steering rack and the exact part numbers for the Bilstein shocks and simulators. At the moment my car a significant leak coming from the power steering rack and a front end ride height issue that can be fixed by installing new front shocks, so says the tech at my local GM dealership. Any help and insight would be greatly appreciated.

You can get oem front shocks

Shocks are not going to change your ride height. If yourS are totally failed and you installl new mag shocks it might raise the car 1/8 th inch. Shocks do not hold the car up. You either have a broken front leaf spring or the pads are gone on the ride heigth adjusters on the end of the spring. You dont mix mag and none mag shocks. As stated front mag shocks are still available.
steering racks are about 50/50 getting one that is any good. Depending on where it is leaking it might be rebuildable. Trouble is when you swap out you may get one tgat was leaking out of the wiring hole and those rarely can be fixed. Also many fail due to the assist going bad. Those cannot be repaired also most shops dont know how to cgeck them so you coukd get one tga assist does not work. Dont let the dealer trick you into you furnishing it. They will be charging you every time they pull it out to try another one.
