Welcome to the Cadillac XLR Forums!

New book for Cadillac's 110th Anniversary

I purchased Cadillac- Standard of the world, the complete History by Maurice D. Hendry back in the 80's. It was published in 1973 and updated in 1977 and 1979. It covered Cadillac from the beginning to 1979. It is a fabulous book.

If this new book is done as well, it will be a fine book indeed!

Every truly dedicated XLR owner should know and understand how Cadillac came to be and why it earned the title "Standard of the World"

Thanks, Henry Leland! (he would just love the XLR)

Henry Leland founded both Cadillac & Lincoln Motor Cars.

Interesting article. Thanks for posting the link.

But once again, I'm disappointed that there is no recognition at all for the XLR. The Evoq was clearly the beginning of the "Art & Science" school of design at Cadillac. Although the CTS came to market first as a 2003 model, the Evoq made it into production as the XLR with relatively little change as a 2004 model and was probably the most radically different Cadillac to ever be presented to the buying public.

It's very ironic to me that a car that has seemed to completely disappear from the history of Cadillac still continues to draw so much attention when you drive it!

This book just showed up on our doorstep as a gift from Cadillac for buying the coupe. While I have only skimmed it, it appears that there is NO mention of the XLR. Certainly no pictures of it. Features it has such as magnetic ride control are mentioned only in connection with other cars, such as the STS (????). In contrast, there are at least a couple of pictures of the Allante in there with related discussion - & from the info I've found, the annual production numbers for the Allante weren't any greater than for the XLR.

I find it curious & sad that Cadillac & GM pretend that this car never existed. Very odd for something that started as a halo car.

I thought the same thing when we saw the book a few weeks ago. Tiffany's Dad received it when he bought his XTS, and we were skimming through it and noticed nothing about the XLR! You would have thought there would at least be a couple of pictures?? That's Cadillac marketing for you!! It will probably happen to the next halo car as well!!
