New Member 2006 XLR-V LSA Swap

Just picked up a 2006 Black Raven XLR-V with an LSA Swap. Got a few things I do not like about the car, such as the wheels, brakes, coil overs and other minor concerns. But none the less it'll be a little work to get it right where I want it to be. Got a fairly decent deal on this & couldn't pass it up.. New to the XLR World but definitely not to the Y-Body platform/LS world. Been around for a while, worked at a dealership for a few years and even a couple independent LSX shops. Looking for other XLRs out there to see what to look out for and, if possible, give out some knowledge and help in return. Thanks

Welcome to world of an XLR and the forum! Very nice modified catch on a V model! Love to some more pics when get you time! You will enjoy this awesome ride as we all do here. One important thing to check is, in the trunk on the drivers side, back corner, under the carpet, is where the hydraulic top pump is. Look under the car for short flimsy rubber tube or a hole, and that it is clear of debris! That’s a water drain tube hole, and if it would get clogged it could fill with water and possibility damage the hydraulic pump! Now if you run into other issues post them here on the forum, there’s a lot of knowledgeable brains here to help and answer questions. Good Luck with your ride!

Hey Dan, on one of the other new members posts (cannot recall which one?), as a new XLR owner they mentioned the heat inside the cabin? Being a new owner, if I recall their post correctly (?) I told them what was causing it, and the 'fix', but couldn't recall the name of the company that makes the replacement heat shield for above the exhaust system and below the tunnel? Since you installed one in your XLR last year, could you maybe post that info for their benefit. Thanks!

This is the Elite one I purchased:
Corvette Tunnel Plate 1/4" Thick Aluminum Ceramic

You can also do a google search for C5-6 Tunnel heat Insulation plate and it brings up other options too

Thank you all for the warm welcome. It also has a front and rear wide body kit, RPM Trans, RPM Diff, DSS Axles, Rotara 8 Piston/4 Piston Brake Kit, KW Variant 3 Coilover suspension.... List goes on! Unfortunately the previous owner (nice gentleman and great dude) had this vehicle at a self proclaimed "Cadillac Specialist" shop. He had them do all the work which in turn has nearly ruined the car. So I've been spending the last few days going through the wiring and fixing any issues I'm coming across. The swap was done nicely, except the wiring was horrific! I'll post some before and after pictures here shortly. Again, thank you for the tips and "hello's"!

Did they paint over the side turn signals of the headlights on the sides? Hopefully it's just tinted.. or stickers.

yeah I saw that also. Iam sure its painted. Looks nice but most likely would get you ticket in many states

they are painted unfortunately. definitely one of the items on the list to take care of.

over the years I realized that the driver of a modified car gets the ticket, not the mods themselves.

We love our 2005 XLR even though we've had all the common problems these cars have. Taillight bulbs out, magnetic shocks blown, and convertible top problems. If you need any help with these issues please message me.
