2007 inferred XLR
I have a 2007 base XLR. Recently I have had to add a quart of oil between oil changes. My car has 40K miles on it and it appears the last oil change was about 3k miles ago. Now the low oil message appears. It needs another quart of oil. is this normal or a red flag??
I do mostly highway driving.

I have not owned my XLR long enough to speak for what is normal but I did own an Eldo with the Northstar and never had a consumption problem.

If it was my car, the first thing I would check the oil filter for a leak at the gasket and it may only leak when the engine is running which creates pressure.

My other thought is that it might take more than one quart low to give you a message, so you may need more than a quart at this point.

I hope you figure this out.

Good luck.

I had three pretty good oil leaks on my base (now fixed) & never had to add oil; the V also has some leaks & hasn't needed oil added either. I'd suggest getting your XLR checked out.
