Has anyone had experience or know of any performance chips success, specificaly Gforce Performance Chips for the XLR?
Thanks

Chips

I do know that if you still have a warranty and you have a chip installed you can kiss your warranty goodbye. Told to me by Tustin Cadillac, CA. They refused to repair a clunking sound either in my rear, rear wheel or tranny because they know I had the car dynode. That's pretty lame.

I knew it would void any warrenty, but the car is a 2007. no warrenty.

Just concerned if the engine, tranny and or rear end could handle the extra power?

Mine is a 2006 V with a Cadillac extended warranty and anytime I used it they would give me problems and make me fight for my rights and finally came up with hear say that I had a chip and I DON'T AND YOUR CAN KEEP YOUR WARRANTIES FROM KNOW ON, BUT YOU CAN PAY MORE JUST LIKE HEALTHCARE.

It would be interesting to find out if the chip works on a base model. I thought the computer was like a vault "can't program/reprogram. If by the slimmest margin it does add some hp your not gonna get neck snapping power. Maybe if lucky 10-20 hp with your fingers crossed. Yes the drivetrain can handle it almost guaranteed. The V has the same drivetrain with almost 100 more ponies. Let us know if you do it and the results.

It all sounds pretty tempting but ???? I wanna say that someone on the site described how it works. Don't quote me but I think they wire in a resistor with different resistance that fools the iat to think the engine is running cold. Which then the computer compensates the rest.
Only true way is to buy it,test it and see what happens. If it don't work then return it. Let us know

Not a totally true statement, Stella. The base models from '04-06 had a 5L50-E five speed transmission and the V models all had 6L80 six speed transmissions. '07-09 base models came with 6L50 six speed transmissions. Don't know what the differences are, could be gear ratios, but I could be wrong.

This sounds similar to what D3 provides when you install their Sage 1 & 2 air intake kit. They basically re-map the air/fuel ratios for the more free-flowing intake. As Stella stated, I don't think you will see a noticeable difference.

Transmission Info

OK, so I found transmission information for the differences. (It is gear ratios, but could also be torque and HP differences.)

Also read that the 6L80 is 100% computer controlled, if that makes difference.

I stand corrected sorry. I knew about the changeover in transmissions just wouldn't think that would change anything with the question of "would a chip affect the drivetrain".
And yes with the differences between a five and six speed would be the gear ratios. Able to tighten gaps between shifts and possibly better fuel economy?

I think you need to try it and let us know. You'd have to get a dyno run before and after. Not the old " I waxed my car it feels faster result". Worst case you have to return it. A lot of people would like to know I'm sure?

what amount of hp could you/we get from a chip? 20/25? I don't think we could feel the difference with that little increase??? jmho.:) Al

This post just reminded me that I actually bought a G-force chip last summer and never installed it and I agree the 20-25 possible horepower increase probably won't be too noticable but my interest was more about the possible boost in gas mileage. I think I never got around to the install because like "Richiez" I wanted feedback from someone who had some REAL experience with it... I'm still a little skeptical.

So why wouldn't you install it and see what it does? Your not gonna destroy or break anything in the process. Also you can take it off if you don't like it. Come on you already have it. You can do it, a lot of us would like to know.
P.s. Send it my way I'll check it out. Lol

You're right, Stella. Best to get a dyno before and after. This will let you know what kind of increase is actually obtained. Dyno's can be expensive though and for a minimal increase on a base unit, I myself wouldn't do it. There are better gains on the V models, as several here have done. Just changing the supercharger pulley will yield substantial HP; however finding them is the biggest problem.

Yah but what about us that don't have the V model? If I had the 10k it would be a total different scenario, but I didn't. :pat: If u have a good feel for the car and differences you should feel alittle more pull. Still should try it instead of guessing "what if"?

Starting a family after my purchase makes it alittle harder to get all three of us in the X. I've been keeping my eye open for a loaded ctsV 4dr has to be the right color, mileage, and flawless! Got another year till it's possible:willy_nilly:

The "what if" is NOTHING so why should he or anyone else waste their money and time on the G-force chip even
if it's only $69.99 + s/h. And you want him to do a before and after dyno.....

I'll keep an eye out for you. If you haven't driven one, you'll be in awe when you do! In my opinion, it's the best car for the money--by far!

I think you need to go back and read the thread first someone asked if the power increase would put to much stress on the drivetrain. NO

Eslic1 said that he purchased one ALREADY but hasn't installed because of the luring question of does it work? I along with other simply stated if you want proven results you would have to do dyno runs before and after.
Simply saying if you took the time and ordered it you must be curious," why not plug it in to see if it works"?
Now if someone is willing to pay three hundred bucks for some dyno runs for a part that cost 75 bucks with a "maybe" the chance of a increase:dunno:
