A previous owner put dark tint on the side and rear windows of my XLR. Really dark!

Has anyone experience or information on removing it?

Thanks
Gord.

Some years back I removed tint very much in the same way it goes on... I simply pulled it off which leaves the tint residue/adhesive on the glass, I then sprayed it with window cleaner which loosens the adhesive and used a blade scraper to remove the residue then just cleaned the window. I got the blade scraper from any auto-parts chain. The ones used to remove window stickers. It's not that difficult at all.

I had to remove window tint from all four side windows once, and used a solution of ammonia and water in a spray bottle, with a razor scrapper. It worked like a charm! Google for details.

If you are talking about the rear (back window), do not use a razor blade scrapper. You will damage the rear window defroster. Using the other posters solutions for moistening the tint and then peeling it off is fine. The left over adhesive can be removed with 3M general purpose adhesive cleaner. Part # 08984

fyi- it also removes tar and bugs quite well. But also removes your wax,so you'll have to re-wax your car.

Yep... Same thing.

I guess I should have clarified that I actually used household glass cleaner and not windshield washer fluid. Glass cleaner has ammonia in it and Windshield washer fluid I'm told does NOT due to it's ability to deteriorate the rubber hoses and lines. So as CCClarke stated ammonia or actual glass cleaner.
