I know this is beating a dead horse but I am baffled regarding this issue..
I ran across a sight online regarding used parts and was contacted by someone who said they have a light at a price of 1399.00..
Is passenger side different to be higher priced than left. I can find drivers side....
When i tried to inquire in depth it got very suspect..
Anyway, what do I, [we] do ?
It is terrible to have a non working taillight!
Please, anyone share any info...

You're right, for whatever reason, the passenger side tail light MSRP lists it as $100 more. --Not that it matters, both left and right tail light assemblies are discontinued.

Going forward, your only source for these is the used market: eBay and online junkyards. As the word gets out that these (essential) assemblies are discontinued, prices for working units will inevitably be pricey.

You're in good company. ELR owners (with about 20% of the XLR’s production numbers) will be in the same boat as soon as the 2016 MY warranty period expires.

The tail lamps are illuminated by LEDs and are serviced as an entire assembly.

Tail lights

I have been considering buying an 05 as I have mentioned in previous posts. I am really surprised by all the posts of problems with the XLR whether it's getting a qualified tech or parts . With my 06 I have had no issues so all of this is news to me. I am beginning to think I should leave well enough alone and stay with my 06 and maybe look for something else.

Oh I feel your pain , its very frustrating having such a cool car but cant find certain parts for it anymore . I was lucky enough to find a brand new euro style passenger light , maybe you could find one too ?? I would direct you to where I got it from but it was a friend of a friend and cash only .

Head Lights

I would think you could interchange the 05 and 06 lights however if you put 05 lights in an 06 they would not be adaptive and move with the direction you turned.

The wiring harnesses are different from '05 to '06. They make an adapter to for the '04-'05 to accept the '06-'09 headlamp, but not the other way around.

BTW, how did this thread on tail lights, suddenly become about headlights?
