A large, well-established, lumber camp advertised that they were looking for a hardworking, experienced lumberjack. The next morning, a short, skinny little man showed up at the camp to apply for the job. The head lumberjack took one look at him, laughed, and told him to leave. “Just give me a chance to prove myself,” the man pleaded. “Okay, fine,” said the lumberjack boss. “There’s a giant redwood tree out back. Take this axe and go chop it down.” The little man grabbed the axe and headed out the door. Ten minutes later, he reentered the office and declared, “All done!” The surprised boss looked out the window and sure enough, the tree was laying across an adjacent field. “Holy cow!” the boss exclaimed. “Where did you learn the skills to chop down trees like that?” “In the Sahara Forest,” the man replied. “You mean the Sahara Desert?” said the boss. “Oh, sure,” answered the man. “That’s what they call it now.”
