Trunk Release "button"

At the back of the car, on the trunk lid, there is what appears to be a "trunk release" pad. A black rubber pad. I think this is supposed to release the trunk lid. This does not work on my 2009 XLR. If this is supposed to release the lid, does anyone know the part number I need to get a new one Thanks. Hal

Pressing it should open the truck and raise it like pressing the inside button or key fob button. Take it out and clean it like the door pads. part number 84190614 is different from door pads.

Well, I thought I sourced a replacement trunk release switch but, I did not. So I'm back to looking for a replacement. There was a post on here a bit ago by someone who sells "refurbished" switches for $75 plus an exchange. Would that person reach out to me again? Thank you in advance. Hal

I tried the door switch for fun - I do recall looking at the door and the trunk switches together and could have sworn they were the same.... anyway, here's a most curious result which might be worth the buy if for nothing more than gaining knowledge.

Curious how the number is apparently for the door (picked it off another site), yet the description says trunk.

I’m very much a “ computer nerd” and have searched extensively! I could missed some site but….
There is a switch on eBay now where they are pushing that it’s for the trunk mount. However, it’s not close to the same shape.
I’m still hoping for the source on this site to get back to me because I cannot find the earlier listing. Thanks all. Hal
