2005 XLR DVD drive

Does anyone know what DVD ROM disks the DVD drive can use. There are standard ROM, double-layer and 2-sided. The NAV files do not fit on a standard ROM disk. OR is there any chance of patching something like a thumb-drive into the GPS as a data source. It would make life so much easier.
 
I think you're pretty well stuck with the factory disks. It would take a LOT of hacking to try and get USB into the NAV section if you could do it at all.
 
Re-configuring the XLR's infotainment system is do-able given the expertise, time, and money involved, which would likely cost more than the car.

On a slightly related note, this seems pretty cool, but someone would have to contact the vendor (if they still exist) to determine of the XLR would/could be compatible:
