My 2007 V trunk lid occasionally won’t hold in the up position, slowly without power just drifts back to closed but not locked position. Always works when top is opened or closed though. Just curious at this point not yet annoying. :dunno: Twice in past few month.

Sounds like the struts need to be replaced. The truck lid has assist struts to offset the weight, there are like the hood struts but shorter.

To clarify the excellent advice in the previous post, there are two kinds of cylinders that support the rear deck lid - two hydraulic lift cylinders and two smaller, air-assist struts. These tend to leak over time, and luckily, aren't overly expensive -when compared to the hydraulic cylinders. They're partially hidden under the rat fur lining on either side forward of the scissors lift mechanism.

The P/N (L & R) is 88956655 ($53.07) on this site: (Scroll down for the parts diagram)

I agree with the replacement of the struts. I had the top struts on mine. They were very difficult to get back in place as you had to compress them to get them in place. The trunk cylinders will be even harder to compress as they are bigger than the top cylinders. I used a wood clamp that I modified to hold the strut so it could not pop out and become a missile!
