Top popped and my wife was not impressed. At least no one ran over it.

You were lucky.....most get run over. This is an ongoing problem with our cars, sadly they are just held on by industrial double face tape.

Actually they are bonded on with the same panel bond that has been used for years. The problem was in the prep of the top that got primer that did not hold to the smc material. The rocker covers,inner fender panels firwall, thevwole car is bonded with same material. It really only fails on 04-05 dark colors that have seen a lot of heat. Time may cause the same problem on lighter colors in the future.
