Mysterious Hole?

Greetings, six months owning and still loving it, even though I've had a "few" issues. I've now run up on something minor that is driving me bananas. There is a round hole on the driver side windshield post toward the top. It appears to have something it it but it is broken. I have attached a picture and would greatly appreciate some input on what function it serves and how I can fix it??? Thanks for any suggestions.

I believe thats the microphone for onstar and voice control. There is typically a small round grill covering it.

Thanks for the quick response, that's evidently what it is. Now the $64000 question: anybody know how to remove the piller to install it?? I did find several places to get another one, first time I found a part that didn't need me to take out a loan ($17)!!!

It's very easy, use some trim removal tools that are cheap at harbor fright. Start at the top and work your way down, it just snaps in and out. Be gentle and take your time.
