2004 CRYSTAL RED XLR
Where can I find the paint color code on a 2004 XLR & which group of numbers of the vin. shows number of car built?
I have 62,000 on my 2004, worst leaking Caddy I have ever owns. Oil, trans fluid & antifreeze spots on floor after setting several weeks. If Caddy did not want to use the corvette engine should have gone with a durable vortec.

The paint code is found on a separate sticker. Look under the storage bin cover in the trunk. The last digits of the VIN are always the sequential number of any vehicle, the XLR needs no more than the last 4 digits. If yours is a 2004 then the paint is called Magnetic Red or Crimson Red, not Crystal Red, and is code 86U. Crystal Claret/Crystal Red Metallic (code 89U) was not used on XLRs until 2008.

I completely disagree with your engine comment. I'm very happy with my Northstar and it does not leak a drop. I'm happy I don't have a "Me too" engine.

Rob, move thread?

I realized after I replied that this thread is under "GM Press Release" incorrectly.

Rob can you move the thread and then delete this one post?
